Of all the things I’d expected, seeing the perfectly put-together and respectable Ashton Nash drunk in his living room was not one of them.

After pawing me and rambling on about me fucking some hot guy in his house, which I assumed meant Jake, I managed to get him to his bedroom. He fell asleep the moment his head hit the pillow, even though he was still grabbing me, and apologizing for hurting me.

I let myself feel the emotions around all of Ash’s drunken confessions. I wasn’t quite sure how to feel about the jealousy though. That’d always been my reaction in our relationship. Regardless, drunk Ash, had left me mostly amused, and maybe just a little buzzed by his comments, even if he would forget them all by tomorrow. Thank God it was Friday, so I could fully enjoy the hangover and mortification that was coming. Was I that shallow? Yes, yes, I was.

I found the half-empty bottle of cheap booze, screwed the cap on and tossed it. “You aren’t going to need that any longer,” I said to the vacated living room.

I texted Lisa and told her to be at her brother’s place by nine, because he was going to be sporting a serious hangover, which I was sure she wouldn’t want to miss.

Seconds later, I got a phone call. “Why is my brother smashed?” she asked.

“I’m not one hundred percent sure. I got something about me dating hot men, and screwing them in his house, which before you yell at me, I wasn’t screwing anyone, much less in his house.”

“Oh,” she said. “This is about the hottie you had waiting for you when we got back to town.”

“Maybe, but regardless, I think it’s best if you’re here instead of me tomorrow when he wakes up.”

I waited for her to contradict me, but instead, she said, “Yeah, I think you’re probably right.”

After ending the call, I went to check on Ash, and seeing he was fine, and not so drunk he was in danger of dying or anything, I went to the guest room and packed up my belongings. Even though I was totally gonna enjoy the show tomorrow, this situation had just gotten a hell of a lot less comfortable, and I needed to give the man his space. Fuck, I needed the space.

When I got back to my childhood home, I tossed my stuff into my old room before texting Jen.

Hey, so guess what’s just happened?

What? she texted back immediately.

You know I’m back in Crawford?

Yeah…?

So, I didn’t tell you everything. I’ve been staying with Ash.

Three dots came and went several times, before she called. “What the hell do you mean you’ve been staying with Ash?”

I sighed, “Well… things here got strange. My dad and Doc are dating, and they moved in together.”

“Shut the front door!” Jen said, and cackled in the background.

“Shut up! That’s why I didn’t tell you. You want the whole world to be gay.”

“Oh, baby, you freaked out, didn’t you?” she asked.

“Yeah, and I couldn’t stay with my dad, so I stayed with Ash instead.
